About the Chapter

The inspiration to start the ASHRAE Chapter in Boise was brought about as a suggestion from the Utah Chapter President to our first president Keith Robertson back in 1979.  The two of them wanted to start a new chapter in Idaho as all of the members located in Southern Idaho were assigned to the Utah chapter, making it difficult to attend meetings.  In Boise alone at the time there were 25 members.  An organizational meeting was held in March, 1980 in Boise to discuss the new chapter’s creation.  Keith visited the CRC in Rapid City South Dakota that year to learn about our region and what was needed to start the Idaho chapter.  The Idaho Chapter 135, was officially chartered in 09/12/1980.  There was a tremendous turnout with 86 people in attendance, including members from Twin Falls, Utah and the current Society President and the Region IX DRC.  We remain part of Region IX which spans from Idaho’s West border to the Ozarks.  Our first chapter officers included President Keith Robertson, Vice President Ron Later, Secretary Mike Wisdom and Treasurer George Richardson all shown below.
