Boise State University building tour: Micron Center for Materials Research. (Joint event with student branch) 

 

When: Wednesday April 20th. Tour 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM; Pizza & Social Hour from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. 

Where: Micron Center for Materials Research, 1435 W University Drive, Boise ID 83725. Meet in the northeast lobby area bordering University Dr and Manitou Ave. 

 

Description: The Micron Center for Materials Research (MCMR) is Boise State University's newest large academic building. At nearly 100,000 square feet, it encompasses lecture halls, laboratories, offices, and study areas. The project was named 2021 Project of the Year by Idaho Business Review, and received the City of Boise's 2021 Building Excellence in Sustainability Award. The tour will cover central building mechanical systems (air handlers, boilers, chillers) as well as features such as displacement ventilation and laboratory systems. The tour is a joint event with our Boise State ASHRAE student branch, and will be followed by networking and pizza in the building's lobby. 

 

Parking: Parking is available in the Lincoln Avenue Garage (1607 University Drive, enter from Belmont St) at a cost of $2.50 / hour. Limited street parking is also available on University Drive on first-come, first-served basis (note that many of the surrounding streets are permit-only). The Boise State shuttle system also provides regular service between downtown and BSU.
